Confused About California Bill AB-506?

In the wake of many sexual abuse tragedies, the State of California passed AB-506. This law raises the expectations on California churches for preventing and reporting child abuse. By working with ChurchWest, you'll soon be on the road to compliance.

Step 1: Policies & Procedures

First, your ministry must implement a child safety plan compliant with AB-506. Get started with a sample child safety plan courtesy of the ChurchWest Risk Management Library.

Step 2: Live Scan

Next, your ministry must register as an authorized requesting agency with the CA DOJ for Live Scan background checks. This applies to all employees and regular volunteers.

Step 3: Training

Every employee and regular volunteer must undergo mandated reporter training. Learn more through our partner, Church HR Network (20% discount for ChurchWest policyholders).
