Cookie Policy
Effective July 10, 2026
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some keep a site working; others measure how it's used. This page explains exactly which cookies churchwest.com uses, what each one does, and how to change your choices.
Our rule is simple: nothing optional runs until you allow it. The first time you visit, a banner asks for your choices. Until you answer, the only cookie we set is the one that keeps the site working. How we handle personal information more broadly is covered in our Privacy Policy.
Essential cookies (always on)
These make the site function and remember the choices you've made. They don't track you, and they don't require consent.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| cw_consent | Remembers the cookie choices you made in the banner, so we don't ask again on every visit. | 12 months |
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
With your consent, we may use non-essential analytics cookies to understand which pages serve ministries well and improve user experience. We use Google Analytics for this. The statistics are aggregate: we look at pages, not people. If you don't allow analytics, Google Analytics never loads and no data is sent.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes one visitor's browser from another so page counts aren't inflated. Set by Google Analytics. | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_* | Keeps track of a browsing session for Google Analytics. | Up to 2 years |
If you withdraw consent later, we stop the measurement and delete these cookies from your browser.
Marketing cookies
We don't currently use any. The category exists in our banner so that if we ever add a marketing tool, it will be off by default and covered by the choice you've already made. If that happens, we'll update this page and ask for your consent again.
Changing your mind
Your choices are never locked in. To change them:
- Click “Cookie Preferences” in the footer of any page to reopen the settings panel.
- Or clear cookies for churchwest.com in your browser, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out under California law: marketing cookies stay permanently off on that browser, even if you click “Accept all.”
